A woman named Isabelle (Michelle Williams) who manages an orphanage in the Indian state, she works hard to be able to protect local children from crime in the area, making a special relationship with Young Jai (Vir Pachisia).
The organization needed money, which forced Isabelle to become a salesman when she was contacted to New York City to meet with a media titan named Theresa (Julianne Moore), who was interested in being able to make a large contribution to that goal.
But unfortunately, Theresa is trapped in a wedding planner, creating a celebration for her daughter named Grace (Abby Quinn), offering an invitation to Isabelle to join the celebration. Reluctantly agreeing to attend the event while he awaits the word of monetary support, Isabelle meets a man named Oscar (Billy Crudup) husband of Theresa, knowing her as a lover during her teenage years.
Upset by the message and concerned about complications related to donations, Isabelle was left in a state of shock, with plans to return to India as soon as possible. Theresa, who had difficulty processing the situation, encouraged Isabelle to stay, hanging a more favourable agreement, even though the visitor had difficulty understanding the reason.
