Ip Man is one of the best-selling film franchises from Hong Kong in the past ten years. The film will release its latest sequel, Ip Man 4, which is shooting in Shanghai, China and the United Kingdom. Donnie Yen returned to the film titled The Finale as the master Wing Chun.
As a warm-up, the film has just released its teaser trailer. The 1-minute video features a compilation of battles that Donnie lived from previous Ip Man films. Also, the trailer shows footage from the movie Ip Man 4. In the scene, Ip Man faces the United States (US) military. This description fits the synopsis of this film. It was stated, in Ip Man 4, the story set in the US where Ip Man’s student, Bruce Lee, opened a Wing Chun school. In the trailer, Ip Man was seen saying he would use martial arts to change the biased views of foreigners towards the Chinese.
Ip Man 4: The Finale touted as the last film of this franchise. Donnie said, the best thing must end. However, he then laughed and said, never to tell. According to him, everything depends on the audience reaction. “If there is (a new idea) to please everyone creatively, I will not stop it,” Donnie quoted as saying Jaynestars.
Wilson Yip directed the film. Meanwhile, Yuen Woo-Ping also returned as an action director in this film. Yuen is a famous martial cinema choreographer known in America for his work on The Matrix trilogy and Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill film. Yuen will also play Commander Tung in the Disney action film Mulan which will be released next year.
Ip Man tells the life journey of Ip Man, a right martial arts activist who is also a legendary teacher of Chinese martial arts known as Wing Chun. He has taught many famous martial arts artists in the world, including Bruce Lee, who will appear in this film by Kwok-Kwan Chan. The Ip Man 4 film is scheduled to be released this summer.
