Romang is the latest melodrama genre film about the life of an elderly married couple.
The film premiere of director Lee Chang Geun tells the story of the family of a married couple Jo Nam Bong (75 years) and Lee Mae Ja (71 years) who were devastated by dementia suffered by Lee Mae Ja. But the two try to stay together to live their lives. The 112-minute film stars two South Korean veterans, Lee Soon Jae and Jung Young Sook. Jo Nam Bong is a taxi driver who has a careless wife Lee Mae Ja. It turns out that his wife’s carelessness is due to dementia. His family planned to send Lee Mae Ja to a nursing home, but Nam Bong changed his mind and took care of his own wife.
Then, their son decides to get out of the house after finding out that Mae Ja’s condition is getting worse and almost wears off her grandson Eun Ji. A short time later, Nam Bong was also sentenced to suffer from degenerative diseases. Left behind by their children together, this elderly couple goes on a different life journey, are interdependent with each other and recall memories of the past.
